The Environmental Science and Climate Change Division is responsible for the environmental review of major projects, monitoring the air and water resources of New Brunswick, addressing climate change mitigation and adaptation, policy direction and legislative agenda development for the department. It provides scientific assessment and environmental protection advice and reports on the state of the environment, leads initiatives promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the adaptation to impacts of climate change, develops programs and policies, and provides technical, scientific and engineering support. This includes interpreting, evaluating and maintaining awareness of research and developments in environmental health and climate issues and initiatives on behalf of the department. The division consists of the following branches: Climate Change and Sciences, Environmental Impact Assessment, Healthy Environments, Policy, and Strategic Policy Initiatives.

What will you do?

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Branch operates and provides services using three interacting web-based portal systems: the EIA Branch Portal, Proponent EIA Portal, and Technical Review Committee (TRC) EIA Portal.

The Portals were developed by International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) using a cloud-based Oracle Client Relationship Management (CRM) platform. On-going support is required to manage enhancements and client services when technical issues arise.

As a member of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Branch and reporting to the Branch Director, the EIA Portal Coordinator is responsible for, among other things:

• Attending and participating in all EIA Portal Committee (DELG/SNB/IBM) meetings; assisting with and prioritizing EIA Portal enhancements/bugs resolution and maintaining the list of enhancements up-to-date.
• Communicating tasks to IBM and working with developers to provide clarifications and complete testing of changes, and communicating changes to users.
• Providing support and advice to all portal users as required.
• Providing training for new portal users (e.g., EIA Branch staff, Technical Review Committee members and Project Proponents).
• Developing and maintaining EIA Portal user manuals and other training materials to assist users.
• Monitoring data in portal and advising appropriate EIA branch members of data quality issues.
• Providing quarterly updates of EIA review metrics to the Director of the EIA Branch.

Essential qualifications

University degree in Information Systems or Information Sciences or other related disciplines and a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience in IT support / customer service OR a college diploma in IT Network Administration, IT Business Analysis or IT User Support Technician, and a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience in IT support / customer service is required.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

• Previous experience in an IT user support role

• Creative Thinking/Innovation.

Technical Competencies

• Knowledge of Applicable Legislation and the Department's Policies and Procedures,
• Ability to Use Office Technology, Software and Applications.

Wage Pay Band 4: $2,271 to $3,176 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Work environment

• Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton.

• Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
