The Authorizations and Compliance Division is responsible for the administration and management of regulatory programs and activities as well as responding to inquiries and concerns from the public related to departmental programs and environmental emergencies. The division consists of the Authorizations Branch, the Regional Operations and Emergency Management Branch, the Resource Management and Remediation Branch and the Watercourse and Wetland Alteration Branch.

What will you do?

Reporting to the Director of the Emergency Management and Operational Support Unit, the successful candidate will:

• play a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and coordinated communications during environmental emergency events, including representing the department as its spokesperson;

• develop communication materials that translate complex technical information into clear, accessible language;

• develop proactive communications that educate the public on environmental issues and departmental initiatives including pesticide safety and usage in New Brunswick;
• support public access to information by developing and maintaining engaging multimedia content such as dashboards and infographics;
• support media relations through the preparation of background materials, FAQs, key messages, and briefing packages.
• Liaising with government agencies and stakeholders.

Who you are?

You possess?strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to problem-solve creatively and think on your feet. You can work independently, collaborate effectively within a professional team, and handle multiple priorities. You possess strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with a broad range of communications tools and media, and the ability to develop and implement innovative and creative communications solutions involving traditional and digital media. You have good coordination, planning and organizing skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Essential qualifications

A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with a minimum of five (5) years related work experience or a two-year college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related field with seven (7) years related work experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate one or more of the following asset qualifications:

• Knowledge of and experience in a government communications environment;
• Expertise incident communications principles;
• Graphic design and multimedia communication skills.

Operational Requirements

Occasional work outside of regular business hours (weekends and evenings); and travel throughout the province. A valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is required.

Wage

Pay Band 5: $2,600 to $ 3,631 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Work environment

• Office location: 20 McGloin (Marysville Place), Fredericton

• Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30 (office schedule)
