Senior Design Estimator

Job Responsibility:

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Design Estimator to lead the estimating and design coordination process for mini and modular home projects. This role requires a detail-oriented and experienced professional with a strong understanding of all construction, architectural drawings, and cost estimating. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the design, engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates that support project planning, client proposals, and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Estimation:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for mini, modular homes as well as the new ADU sector, including materials, labor, sub-trades, and transportation.

• Analyze architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and scope documents to determine cost impacts.

• Develop and maintain pricing models for standard and custom home designs.

• Design Integration:

• Collaborate with in-house designers and architects to assess design feasibility and cost efficiency.

• Recommend design modifications that reduce costs or improve buildability without compromising quality.

• Assist in developing value-engineered options for clients.

• Cost Database Management:

• Maintain and update internal estimating databases and historical cost records.

• Track pricing trends in materials, labor, and subcontractor markets.

• Bid Preparation & Client Interaction:

• Prepare comprehensive bid packages and proposals for both residential and commercial projects.

• Participate in client meetings to explain estimates and address technical queries.

• Assist sales and business development teams in the pre-construction phase.

• Interdepartmental Coordination:

• Work closely with procurement to ensure alignment between estimates and purchasing.

• Coordinate with production and logistics teams to validate constructability and delivery costs.

Qualifications:

• Education:

• Diploma or degree in Construction Estimating, Architectural Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in estimating or design coordination in modular, prefab, or residential construction.

• Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and estimating platforms (e.g., Google Suite and Smartsheet)

• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of all construction methods, building codes, and materials.

• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.

• Excellent communication, organization, and time management.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 40 per week
