Staff Accountant (Nanaimo)

Pacific CPA is a mid‑sized public practice accounting firm located in Nanaimo, offering tax, accounting, bookkeeping, and advisory services to a wide variety of clients across multiple industries.
Position We are seeking an enthusiastic intermediate accountant to join our firm in the role of Staff Accountant. The ideal candidate will have experience in a public practice accounting firm but has not yet obtained their CPA designation. The position is available as full‑ or part‑time (30–37.5 hours per week). During the busy season (March & April) additional hours may be required. During July and August, regular hours will be 30 hours per week Monday‑Thursday.
Job Responsibilities Preparation of personal income tax returns and corporation income tax returns
Preparation of financial statements (compilation engagements only, no audit or review engagements)
Full cycle accounting, data entry, and account reconciliations
GST, PST, and WorkSafeBC return reconciliation and preparation
T4 & T5 reconciliation and preparation
Bookkeeping and payroll services
Client interaction
Other tax and accounting projects as assigned
Skills & Experience Minimum of 2 years’ public practice experience
Experience with CaseWare, Jazzit, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, Sage, and CCH iFirm an asset
Strong computer skills and comfortability with paperless filing systems
Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills
BBA undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting or equivalent education and experience
