Communications Coordinator (External)

The Opportunity Our Corporate Communications team has an opportunity for a dedicated, resourceful communications and events coordinator to join our team, based in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications (External) this role will primarily support the events marketing team, as well as external communications, web, social and creative work. In this role you will help deliver effective communications through events for our external audiences and employees. *Please Note: we request all applicants to please include a Cover Letter at the beginning of their resume* What you will do

• Support the planning and execution of events including, logistics, venue bookings, promotional material, and post-event analysis
• Prioritize, troubleshoot and escalate incoming communication requests
• Assess, review, edit and advise on external communications plans and content
• Write and edit a variety of content including articles, social media posts, and other communication materials
• Develop social media plans in collaboration with the communications team to effectively tell our story
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the company's brand strategy, including visual identity guidelines
• Stay up-to-date on communication industry trends and best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
• Provide administrative support, such as scheduling, file management, and reporting, as needed
• Collaborate and liaise with the broader communications and external relations team

Minimum Qualifications

• Post-Secondary Education in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, public relations or event management
• Two years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a corporate communications team
• Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain a strong focus and attention to detail
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Intermediate understanding of Microsoft 365 applications; experience with SharePoint
• Experience with web-based technology for managing incoming service requests and publishing communications

• Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours
