About the Team

Data as a Service (DaaS) is an enterprise-wide data management improvement initiative that brings business data and technology resources together to maximize customer and colleague benefit.

The DaaS Practice is comprised of a group of highly skilled Subject Matter Experts (SME) who are focused on the delivery of specialized work including building data pipelines, supporting data science needs, driving data automation, creating and implementing data & analytics platforms.

We are seeking highly motivated and capable technologists to join our Data as a Services team to work on the forefront of enabling TD's big data strategy with a special focus on ETL/data curation on on-cloud Azure Platform.

As a Data Engineer/BSA , you will:

• Design and develop ETL processes based on functional and non-functional requirements in python / pyspark within Azure platform.
• Recommend and execute improvements.
• Interact with business stakeholders, understand and document business needs.
• Translate business needs for extraction and consumption into system data and technical specifications.
• Understand and map data flow into all solution layers: data ingestion, curation, and consumption.
• Gather, analyze, document and maintain all data requirements related to the business applications, interfaces, and reporting environments in different kinds of data maps.
• Acknowledge and identify shared data patterns for optimized solution.
• Apply standards and best practices to ensure that the application's data is accurate, complete, current, understandable, and accessible.
• Work with data owners to define and manage data dictionary / catalog for respective data platforms, systems / servers / applications.
• Facilitate data analysis and investigations for business users and QA teams, assisting with complex issues and validating business cases during development and testing phases.
• Provide proactive oversight on business impact post-implementation, ensuring the data solution meets the intended business outcomes during the warranty period.
• Coordinate business requirements with technical teams with an oversight of ensuring smooth integration of data into source code repositories and promoting effective source code management practices.
• Participate in business and technical design reviews, ensuring that data architectures meet both operational and business objectives.
• Ensure business metadata and data lineage are well-documented and integrated with enterprise metadata management tools, facilitating better business understanding.
• Execute and provide support during testing cycles and post-production deployment, engage in peer code reviews.
• Apply automation and innovation on new and on-going data platforms that aligned to business strategies.
• Understand the full end to end development activities from design to go live for ETL development in Azure platform.
• Document component design for developers and for broader communication.
• Understand and adopt an Agile (SCRUM like) software development mindset
• Follow established processes/standards, business technology architecture for development, release management and deployment process.
• Design, develop and implement reporting platforms and complex ETL frameworks that meet business requirements.
• Provide data analysis and requirements within enterprise platform.
• Develop, maintain knowledge of data available from upstream sources and data within various platforms.

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION

• Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate.
• Azure experience/certification.
• 2-3 years relevant experience.
• Working experience for the following:
• Data Flow Processes
• SQL Development
• Python, Pyspark, Spark
• Azure platform and tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Synapse
• ETL
• Preference given to candidates who have experience working in Agile.
• Concepts of data modeling and data trends- ER, Dimensional, Data mesh
• Ease with visual diagram representation - UML, ER, Data flows
• Strong concepts of data management : mapping and lineage, data validation and data quality, etc.
• ETL concepts and Cloud technology.
• Working knowledge of source code control tool such as GIT.
• Interest and advanced fluidity with productivity and collaboration tools such as Excel, Confluence, Sharepoint
• Implementation experience in managing and working in multiple environments, release and change management and knowledge of firewall, network work protocols, file transfer - TIBCO.
• Hands on experience in BSA artifacts: Business Requirements Document (BRD), Functional Requirements Document (FRD), System Requirements Specification (SRS).
• Data classification and Advanced SQL knowledge.
