Litigation Analyst (Post Undergraduate, Pre-Law School)

We are seeking a Litigation Analyst to join our Toronto litigation team. This is a one- to two-year position designed for recent or soon-to-be undergraduates who are contemplating a career in law and looking to gain meaningful, hands-on experience before attending law school.

With approximately 30 litigators in our Toronto office, we offer a unique boutique litigation experience backed by the resources of a leading Canadian corporate law firm that focuses on high-stakes matters. This position is geared toward recent graduates who are looking to contribute to the nation’s highest-stakes commercial disputes before attending law school.

This is a current vacancy and an excellent opportunity for those who have recently completed, or are in the process of completing, an undergraduate degree and are contemplating a future in the law. This one-to two-year position is designed to provide meaningful insight into the legal profession and valuable hands-on experience before pursuing further legal education.

As a Litigation Analyst, you will learn by doing, gaining hands-on experience on significant trial and appellate mandates. You will embrace a generalist approach, working across a broad spectrum of industries and legal issues, from constitutional questions to landmark commercial mergers. You will benefit from a supportive, collegial culture with minimal hierarchy, working directly with partners and other lawyers, law clerks, eDiscovery professionals and clients. You will also receive mentorship designed to guide your professional growth and prepare you for a future in the legal profession.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work closely with lawyers throughout all stages of litigation, from commencement through trial and appeal
• Support case management and coordination across the litigation team
• Become familiar with AI and eDiscovery tools frequently used in litigation
• Conduct detailed factual research and assist with legal research using platforms such as CanLII, Lexis, and Westlaw
• Assist with preparation for witness examinations, hearings, trials, and appeals
• Attend court proceedings to take detailed notes and help organize testimony and exhibits in real time
• Prepare, format, and cite-check pleadings, motions, and other legal documents for filing with courts and arbitration panels
• Anticipate workflow needs and contribute to effective problem-solving across matters

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a demonstrated record of academic achievement, initiative and leadership
• Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and synthesize complex information
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion in all interactions
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment
• Ability to work collaboratively with lawyers, legal professionals, and clients
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 required
• Experience with eDiscovery platforms considered an asset
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
• Availability to commit to a two-year term beginning in Fall 2026

Salary Range

The expected starting salary range for this role is $70,000 - $80,000.
