Position Title: Financial Controller

Role Type: Permanent/ Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)

Location: Taiganova, Fort McMurray, Alberta

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8-hour day shifts

What I will be doing?

• Manage financial and managerial accounting, including invoicing, receivables, payables, inventory, costing, assets, intercompany transfers, budgets, and reporting.

• Oversee banking relationships, reconciliations, cash management, credit cards, loans, and capital leases.

• Oversee subsidiary accounting operations, controls, and transaction processing.

• Prepare and publish timely financial statements, managerial and regulatory reporting.

• Support month-end and year-end close process, client / regulatory audits, government reporting requirements, and tax filings.

• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies, assist with payroll processing and additional duties as necessary.

What does Acden need from me? 

• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required.

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience is required.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Financial Controller role is required.

• Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract is required.

• Experience with creating financial statements, managerial reports and budgets is required.

• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures is required.

• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 ecosystem including; SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and Excel.

• Ability to evaluate Microsoft 365 capabilities, AI enabled tools, Copilot and other emerging technologies pertaining to finance and accounting while considering privacy, security, governance, and business requirements.

What are the "nice to haves"? 

• Proficient with Sage 300 or equivalent accounting software user is preferred.
