Senior Mechanical Estimator

The LAFRAMBOISE GROUP is seeking a Senior Mechanical estimator with industrial project experience. This is a full‑time position based out of the corporate office located in Long Sault (Cornwall), Ontario.

Description of Position

• Responsible for estimating the costs of a project or scope of work associated with the Mechanical discipline, including incorporating pricing from suppliers and subcontractors, and quantifying changes in scope.
• Estimating costs associated with the assembly and construction of equipment and components through accurate quantity take‑offs of plans and specifications.
• Apply appropriate productivity rates and factors for the work and site conditions.
• Prepare bid documents that meet the requirements of the Laframboise Group and the client’s RFP.
• Ensure the bid is prepared according to the RFP requirements, and is complete and accurate.
• Develop and apply appropriate hourly rates for the schedule and project work hours/shifts.
• Evaluate and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing to determine the best value proposal.
• Review project‑specific documents and site conditions to understand the work.
• Solicit input from the proposal team regarding procurement and construction strategy, focusing on constructability, efficiency, and safety.
• Perform bid‑to‑construct comparisons to quantify changes to the scope.
• Ensure health & safety policies and provincial regulations are understood and followed.
• Apply current estimating standards and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Travel to project sites as required.

Skills & Experience

• 15+ years of experience working with and estimating millwrighting type work for industrial projects $10MM+.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage concurrent proposals and projects.
• Proficient at analyzing, managing, and administering contract documentation.
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bi‑lingual in French or Spanish a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in interpreting construction drawings and navigating the flow of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and SharePoint, and in the use of estimating software.
• Experience estimating other disciplines (e.g., structural steel, sheet metal, vessels and tanks, piping, electrical) is a plus.
• Experience with the selection and implementation of estimating software is a plus.
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Salary and Benefits

• Competitive salary, commensurate with experience: Range $50/hr. to $60/hr.
