Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced (Senior) Finance Manager to join our team as part of a Calian subsidiary in the UK. The incumbent will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company's finance in the UK and will report directly to the Divisional Controller, Health & Learning based in Canada. The (Senior) Finance Manager will oversee financial operations, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis, as well as to ensure compliance with UK regulations and company policies. This role will be pivotal in stabilizing and managing Calian's UK operations and serving broader European entities.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to the Divisional Controller based at Headquarters in Ottawa, Canada and liaising with other cross-functional team members

• Managing all aspects of the company's finances, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial reporting in accordance with local and HQ reporting deadlines

• Leading month-end, quarter-end, year-end processes including reconciliations, accruals, billing, collections management

• Ensuring monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports are submitted to HQ based on established deadlines to drive corporate consolidation including addressing any follow-up queries based on review of financial reporting package and variance analysis

• Coordinating with local finance team (including external management accountant) and implementing and maintaining strong internal controls

• Managing all banking including relationships with banks and handling cashflows responsibly

• Taking the initiative to optimize processes through continuous improvement and identify other cost-saving opportunities

• Ensuring completion of all local tax, payroll, and corporate compliance (VAT, corporate tax, statutory accounts, business surveys, pension, national insurance, etc.)

• Liaising with external auditors and submitting final audited accounts to Companies House by June 30 every year

• Supporting and facilitating any requests from external auditors from company headquarters

• Will require occasional travel to company operational sites and facilities, including but not limited to Huntingford, Havant, and Warminster

• Leading the amalgamation/integration of other UK entities and supporting Calian's European entities as needed

• Supporting other ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role

• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP/IFRS

• Strong knowledge of UK tax regulations and compliance.

• Experience managing a small finance team

• Knowledge and experience working with Sage50, or other similar accounting systems

• Previous experience working with government contracts is a nice to have
