Responsibilities:
Industrial Hygiene:
-Assist in developing, implementing, delivering, and promoting Industrial Hygiene and related programs
-Develop and implement workplace exposure monitoring programs for chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic hazards
-Manage the respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
-Support employee groups on-site through safety huddles and information sessions
-Develop and deliver training to personnel in areas of occupational health and safety
-Ensure that instrumentation and monitoring equipment such as gas detectors, sound level meter, and respirator fit test equipment is properly maintained
-Oversee all activities associated with the radiation protection program
-Plan and organize monitoring activities utilizing expertise in measuring radon/radon progeny levels and long lived radioactive dust
-Supervise Technicians/Technologists
-Work with operations to coordinate activities such as ventilation and contamination control
-Ensure that radioisotopes are monitored, stored, used and maintained
-Work with teams to ensure that movement of material on and off site comply with regulations
-Prepare reports, analyses and documents to support operations
-Respond to situations requiring investigation, mitigation, or control of unacceptable radiation exposure Skills and Qualifications:
-Degree in Occupational & Environmental Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene or related discipline
-5+ years experience working in a field directly related to the control of worker exposure to radiation
-Demonstrated ability to supervise staff
-Familiarity with the operation of agencies such as CNSC, LWRS, SMOE Work Location & Schedule:
-McClean Lake site
-14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
-Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
