About The Role

This competition will be used to fill two (2) positions:

• One (1) regular full-time position.
• One (1) temporary full-time position until September 24, 2027

Under the direct supervision of the program manager, the program officer:

• Manages the delivery of grants or funds to individual artists, arts groups, and/or arts organizations in accordance with established policies and procedures, including equity policies and priorities.
• Responds to inquiries from applicants and delivers program information through outreach activities.
• Assesses the eligibility of applicants and applications and follows up as needed.
• Chairs or participates in working groups and committees.
• Provides assessments in internal committees.
• Chairs assessment committees.
• Provides information and impartial commentary during peer assessment committee meetings.
• contributes to advancing program outcomes, the Council’s strategic direction and the development of Council policies.
• Sustains relationships in the arts communities and shares knowledge of artistic practices.
• Reviews applicant profiles and grant applications.
• provides financial and organizational analysis.
• Proposes assessment committee makeup.
• Makes recommendations for grant recipients and amounts.
• Represents the Council at various events.
• Contributes to the ongoing improvement of programs and processes.
• Validates reporting data.
• Works to ensure access for professional Canadian artists and arts organizations to Council programs and services.
• Performs other related duties.

Education

• An undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience related to the key responsibilities of the position.

Experience

• Five (5) years of experience directly related to the principal responsibilities of the position, which include:
• managing client and stakeholder relations.
• managing committees or equivalent facilitation experience.
• program delivery or project management.
• Experience in the arts, culture or creative industries sectors would be an asset.

Knowledge

• General knowledge of the current state of the arts in Canada, including trends and new developments such as international markets, digital transformation, organizational development, and sector and social innovation.
• General knowledge of issues related to equity, diversity, anti-racism, and anti-colonialism, including diverse arts practices in Canada, such as non-Western forms, Indigenous arts, and Deaf and disability arts.

Bilingual Requirements

This position requires the use of both official languages. The requirements in the second official language are:

• an intermediate level in reading comprehension (B)
• and an intermediate level in writing (B)
• an intermediate level in oral (B)
