Lead Product Stewardship Specialist

Job Responsibility:

As the Lead Product Stewardship Specialist , you will work as a member of the product stewardship team with multiple functions to ensure compliance with the regulatory environment in Canada by interpreting regulations and recommending possible strategies for compliance. You will report to the Global Manager, Regulatory & Emerging Issues and you will provide product regulatory compliance support and deliver excellent service to all PPG businesses in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on Canadian registration requirements to SBUs, support through completion any new registrations for resins and 3rd party substances, update compliance tools in our EHS IT systems as registrations are approved (volume tracking, regulatory status), manage invoicing to sponsoring SBUs.

• Monitor and track emerging issues and provide advocacy support as needed, including participation in trade associations such as: lead contact for the Canadian Paint and Coatings Association (CPCA).

• Provide regulatory support and expertise related to various Canadian programs such as Chemical Management Plans, Risk Assessments, Significant New Actions, and Ministerial Conditions.

• Maintain programs related to PPG's Canadian manufacturing and products imported into Canada such as: Chemical Management Plan data requests, Precursor (Drugs) Control regulation (registration), Explosives & Precursors Regulation (sales reporting and end user agreements), Pest Control Products regulation (registrations and reporting).

• Review and improve Substance Volume Tracking procedures.

• Develop solutions and sustainable processes to a variety of moderately complex problems of moderate scope.

• Review and revise policies, practices and tools that enable PPG business units to comply with Canadian regulations.

• Perform product stewardship reviews and audits related to Canadian regulations.

• Help maintain and improve the Product Stewardship Management System.

• Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend changes within the Product Stewardship function and product stewardship related activities within the COE, regions, and businesses.

• Prepare information to be used in communications with a wide variety of PPG functions including Product Stewardship Business Partners, marketing, technical, legal, purchasing, product management, supply chain, customer service, technical service, and IT.

• Develop and provide product stewardship training and expertise for applicable personnel across a variety of business unit segments, countries and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EHS field, chemistry, engineering, or advanced degree.

• 5+ year of relevant experience.

• Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.

• Good working knowledge of product regulatory requirements both for domestic as well as international destinations is a plus.

• Be a lead person or technical expert and provides direction to less experienced employees.

• Working knowledge of key business metrics, key drivers, business vision, and manufacturing processes/challenges as applicable.
