Job Description Senior Project Manager – Toronto (Vaughan) Office

Responsibilities

Serve as Project Manager on major water and wastewater projects in the GTA and other Ontario municipalities, acting as primary contact with client project managers.

Handle project scope, schedule, budget, and quality management, and manage a multi‑disciplinary design team.

Provide technical guidance, senior leadership, and mentoring engineering staff to expand water services capabilities.

Offer technical support and project management assistance for projects in Ontario or other CDM Smith offices in North America.

Collaborate with the Ontario Client Service Leader and corporate sales and marketing teams on proposal preparation and client liaison to promote business development.

Build and maintain positive relationships with key client decision makers.

Participate in staff hiring to support office growth and in professional societies relevant to the industry.

Skills & Abilities Experience with project management methodology, including budget development, planning, control and assurance, as well as project management software and finance and accounting concepts. Excellent verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and presentation skills, and the ability to handle a large volume of requests. Proficient in MS Word and Excel with strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent directly related experience).

10 years of related experience.

PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification required (within 12 months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list).

Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency contingent on duties.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering or related discipline.

Registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Strong prior experience in project management and technical project delivery for municipal water sector projects.

Experience managing projects for municipal clients in the Greater Toronto Area and/or Southern Ontario.

Business development experience, including proposal preparation and cost estimates for municipal clients.

Travel Required 10% or less.

Compensation Pay Range Min: USD $142,667.00 – Max: USD $249,683.00. Bonuses are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
