Job Summary:

The part time Support Worker supports the Healthy Babies, Healthy Futures (HBHF) program by helping deliver drop-in sessions, preparing nutritious meals, providing emotional and practical support to families prenatally and with infants up to 18 months. Assists with program tasks. This role requires compassion, organization, and a commitment to creating a welcoming, inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally safe space.

Main Responsibilities

1. Program Coordination & Facilitation

2. Set up, co-facilitate, and clean up HBHF drop-in sessions.

3. Meal Planning & Preparation

a. Plan menus and shop for HBHF lunches within the program’s budget.

b. Prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals to HBHF participants.

4. Participant Support & Outreach

a. Provide outreach and emotional support to pregnant individuals and caregivers.

b. Assist families in identifying personal needs and accessing resources.

c. Provide in-home support when caregivers are present (e.g., resting, cleaning, visiting).

5. Donation Management & Logistics

Facilitate drop-offs, laundering, washing, sorting, and organization of donations.

6. Administration & Compliance

a. Complete light administrative tasks such as attendance tracking and record keeping.

b. Ensure all program activities align with Victoria Faulkner Women’s Centre policies.

7. Additional Duties

a. Perform other tasks as needed to support the Healthy Babies, Healthy Futures team.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

1. Must reside in Canada.
2. Must identify as a woman.
3. Ability to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for large groups (approx. 30 people).
4. Availability to work Monday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
5. Valid First Aid certificate.
6. Valid Food Safe certificate.
7. Experience working with pregnant individuals, parents, or infants.
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
9. Ability to provide emotional and practical support in community and in-home settings.
10. Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe, and anti-oppressive practices.
11. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
12. Strong organizational skills and reliability.
