ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Care, the Behavioural Support Lead - Personal Support Worker will work in collaboration with the Behavioural Support Lead Facilitator to build knowledgeable care teams and the implementation of evidence-based practices research knowledge and expertise related to Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) into clinical practice within all care floors of Hogarth Riverview Manor.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Current Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized college program
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill working with individuals with various types of dementia delirium and mental health issues

Skills/Abilities:

• Certification relevant to practice setting (ie Gerontology Dementia) including training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) and U-First is an asset
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is an asset
• Demonstrated familiarity with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations is an asset
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
• Demonstrated commitment to client centered care
• Ability to work as part of a team and also independently with minimal supervision
• Computer proficiency including Word and Windows email communication and electronic documentation
• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
• Valid Driver's License use of a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance and willingness to travel between Long Term Care Facilities in the Thunder Bay area
