Compensation: $20-$21 an hour (based on experience) + weekly tip out + health benefits after 3 months of full time employment

We are currently looking to hire a highly motivated, experienced pastry cook with a strong work ethic to match for a full time position.
You will be responsible for baking our signature pita breads, koulouri and other pastry items on a daily basis for in store purchase, catering orders and other restaurants within Mamakas Food Group. Full training is provided. This is a production bakery environment.
We are looking for someone who can work independently, with little/no supervision. We are looking for a candidate with leadership skills who can assist with things like ordering, training and maintaining standards in the absence of the Pastry Manager.
We will not be holding traditional interviews for this position, you will be required to complete a paid stage shift to determine your skill level and to see if you are the right fit.
Summary of responsibilities:
Reporting to the Pastry Manager, responsibilities and essential job requirements include but are not limited to:
- Follow recipes accurately and bake items to perfection
- Maintain proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimize wastage/spoilage
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils and equipment
- Follow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards
- Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverage
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous cooking and/or baking experience required (1 -2 years minimum in a similar environment)
- Able to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible and reliable
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team and individually as required
- Ability to accurately follow recipes with no supervision
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Complete repetitive tasks, such as rolling dough
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
- Occasional kneeling, pushing and pulling
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
