The team is focused on building long term relationships with large privately owned and private equity backed Canadian companies and providing wholistic solutions that power their growth.

Responsibilities

• Develop a robust and effective marketing strategy for the assigned market, grow the client base and revenues, and build a prospect list with pitching/cross‑sell plans to create a strong pipeline of full‑service relationship opportunities.
• Demonstrate strong leadership/co‑ordination skills focused on market build‑out and prospecting activities while developing and maintaining key internal and external partner relationships.
• Build and maintain a strong market presence by developing relationships with key industry stakeholders (accounting firms, advisors, law firms and key business leaders) and participating in professional associations.
• Manage C‑Suite relationships with sophisticated clients, supporting their business objectives by proposing appropriate financial strategies.
• Work closely and in collaboration with internal partners (Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Private Banking, Risk Management Solutions and Treasury) to initiate and structure customized financing solutions that meet clients’ specific needs within the bank’s risk criteria.
• Understand market conditions impacting clients and maintain a strong awareness of general economic conditions to ensure all risks are appropriately managed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s in a related field (business, finance, economics).
• Professional designation(s) and/or an advanced degree is considered a strong asset.
• 5–8 years of corporate/commercial lending experience in Canada, with strong knowledge of key markets and prospects.
• Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies to drive business development.
• Excellent credit skills, with experience structuring complex senior debt financing ranging from 20million to 1billion, including bank syndication.
• Strong knowledge of lending and ancillary products (cash management, derivative trading products) and ability to identify ancillary business opportunities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to articulate National Bank’s strategy and capabilities within the marketplace.
• Excellent networking, relationship building, negotiation, sales/closing and teamwork skills.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other commercial systems.
• Fluency in French (required).
