Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Capital Planning and Asset Management Analyst for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Capital Planning, Projects, and Asset Management department.

This position is responsible for supporting the coordination, preparation and analysis of financial information and reports pertaining to all aspects of asset management (including but not limited to capital asset working papers, inventory records, asset replacement analysis). The incumbent would perform comprehensive financial analysis of various data, investigate discrepancies, compile, coordinate and prepare detailed schedules and reports. The incumbent plays a key role in administering the University's Project Costing module and ensuring data integrity within the Asset Management Database.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing capital asset transactions to ensure proper account coding and compliance with university capital policies and initiating corrections as required.
• Preparing monthly reconciliations of the capital control accounts and capital expense accounts to identify and correct any discrepancies.
• Assisting with creating, coordinating, and updating the Asset Management Plan including working with other departments on strategies, frameworks, processes, policies and procedures as required.
• Initiating and completing the financial aspects of the university-wide computer deployments which entails data compilation and communication with various University constituents and external stakeholders. Representing the Capital Planning, Projects, and Asset Management department within the process.
• Initiating asset inventory verification and participating in the asset management process.
• Investigating asset data discrepancies, identifying problems, and recommending solutions to these problems. Documenting and coordinating disposition of university assets.
• Providing support and backup to both the Senior Financial Analyst and other Analyst.
• Keeping current on accounting updates related to capital assets and making recommendations to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• A minimum of a degree in Finance or Accounting - Final stages of accounting designation.
• A minimum of three (3) years of accounting & analysis experience in a mid to large size corporation/institution.
• Strong experience with modelling & complex spreadsheets and databases - experience with the Microsoft Power BI tool is considered an asset.
• Working experience with Oracle PeopleSoft, specifically the Asset Management module or experience using a significant financial system/ERP system would be considered an asset.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
