Agencies, boards and commissions (ABCs) provide a range of services to our citizens, and it is imperative that they are accountable, transparent, and effective in their roles and mandate for Albertans. Accountability is strengthened through an effective, efficient, and highly functioning Public Agency Secretariat (PAS), Public Service Commission, capable of high-level collaboration, including providing direction and advice to public agencies and departments.
The PAS has a critical role in contributing to public agencies effectively performing at the highest standard for Albertans and establishing a strong public agency delivery system for our province.

The Policy Analyst will work across a number of different areas to support overall governance and capacity in Alberta's ABCs. The Policy Analyst will experience first-hand the work involved in implementing legislation and regulation, and will have the opportunity to develop other key competencies critical to policy development such as: developing a systems-thinking approach and building collaborative networks through working with a multitude of stakeholders.
Supports project management and implementation on key files (such as new member orientation, ABC review, governance policies).
Maintains the Public Agency Database and prepares regular reports, as well as supports activities related to the electronic Public Agencies Appointment System (ePAAS).
Conducts activities to position PAS as a centre for excellence in public agency governance.
Provides research, data analysis, and coordination for agency governance, compensation and centralized recruitment.
Develops briefings and communication tools related to the development of governance policy, legislation, resources and training.

Creative Problem Solving: Ability to interpret complex information, legislation and policies to create concise, accurate briefings, reports and/or policy advice. University graduation in a related field no experience required; Ability to create concise, accurate briefings, reports and/or policy advice.
Assets :
Experience doing research, and the ability to identify, analyze and synthesize data from a variety of sources.
Project management.
Understanding of public agencies and their relationship to government.
