Youth Kitchen Lead

Job Responsibility:
Job Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Kitchen Lead, aged 15 to 30, to join our awesome team at the SEED Project. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working in the Kitchen and will bring some experience to the table. That said, we are open to unique skill sets and diverse backgrounds, so there is wiggle room with the word "experience". We are looking for a team player that wants to learn from their co-workers and mentors and someone that can also work alone on different projects, demonstrating leadership and self-regulation. The best fit for our Youth Kitchen Lead will look forward to innovating with us on creative food projects, while working with young people and fostering their own personal growth and development, along the way.
Duties:
-Lead kitchen activities for the 2024 season for our youth education and community outreach activities, including prep and service, school food delivery, events and catering, and onsite meal creation
-Share leadership in engaging kitchen activities for youth participants- Provide light mentorship and guidance to youth participants- Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants- Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate programs and events- Support evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs- Communicate effectively with management and co-workers regarding program updates
Requirements:- Previous experience working with youth in a leadership capacity or interest in developing leadership experience in working with youth- Strong interpersonal and communication skills- Ability to create and maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere for youth and team members- Knowledge of youth development principles and best practices is an asset- Flexibility in working hours to accommodate program schedules is of great value
Skills:- Cash handling experience is a plus- Familiarity with POS systems is beneficial- Previous experience in food service, kitchen, hotel, or restaurant management/service is advantageous- Strong customer service skills are essential for interacting with youth/their families, clients, and co-workers
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.75-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
