About the Role

In this opportunity as  Senior Director, Finance , you will:

  • Provide analysis and leadership to ensure that we use our resources and capital to our best advantage to drive revenue and profit. Work on the development, implementation, and reporting of appropriate KPIs such as capitalization rates & efficiency actions, product profitability analysis, and cloud expenditure (with the wider finance team and business stakeholders as required).
  • Work with the VP Finance, Operations & Technology and the Head of Engineering and the Product Engineering Leadership team to improve the partnership between the Product Engineering organization and the key groups with which it interacts including the segments & regions, Product & Editorial, and Operations & Technology. This includes the annual budget & plan process, monthly reporting presentations, short- and long-term forecasting & planning, and the identification of Opportunities & Risks against the forecasts/plans.
  • Be responsible for forecasting Opex and capital requirements in business cases, including the identification and analysis of product engineering activities & projects and their capitalization treatment. Help the organization make capital and resource allocation decisions through financial analysis (e.g. classic financial analyses such as ROI and DCF/NPV).
  • Work in conjunction with the rest of the finance team, including Accounting and other teams within DSIG, to ensure accurate and appropriate accounting treatment of all financial activities related to the business.
  • Analyze and interpret financial information pertaining to business performance and make recommendations concerning business policy, resource allocation, and business operations to improve financial performance. • Develop and maintain your finance team, establishing standards for performance and giving appropriate direction as part of DSIG and the broader finance organization. Develop your team to ensure growth in the capabilities of the finance function and to support succession plans across the finance department.
  • Lead and contribute to agreed finance transformation initiatives and projects across Operations & Technology and the broader finance teams, including continued adoption of automation tools and machine learning / predictive forecasting models, new financial systems and tools such as OneStream and PowerBI, and ongoing review and improvement of key processes including simplification and standardization where appropriate.
