Intermediate Full-Stack Software Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Intermediate Full-Stack Software Developer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to build and support modern web applications, internal tools, and emerging AI-powered products and services.
You will work across the full development lifecycle, from understanding requirements through implementation, testing, optimization, and ongoing support.
The technology environment includes Ruby on Rails, MySQL, JavaScript, Azure, and OpenAI services, with increasing adoption of Python for future AI architecture.

• Build, test, maintain, and support web applications and internal software tools across the product development lifecycle.
• Analyze business and technical requirements, determine effective implementation approaches, and challenge or improve requirements when appropriate.
• Identify technical risks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement proactively, and implement solutions that enhance application quality and performance.
• Develop solutions using relational databases, SQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and relevant web development frameworks.
• Contribute to the development of AI-powered products and services, experimenting with emerging technologies and supporting the evolution of the technical architecture.
• Participate in code reviews and promote design patterns, coding standards, and software development best practices.
• Mentor co-op students, junior developers, and peers while actively sharing technical knowledge and learning from more experienced team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve development processes, product delivery, and engineering efficiency.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including prioritization, requirements clarification, estimation, planning, and retrospectives.
• Help strengthen Agile practices by contributing ideas and identifying opportunities for continuous team and process improvement.
• Develop and optimize solutions designed to handle large datasets and high-volume workloads.
• Maintain source-control practices and ensure solutions remain aligned with business priorities, technical requirements, and delivery expectations.

Requirements

• Degree or diploma from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least 4 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience with full-stack or web application development, preferably using an MVC-based framework, or advanced experience with Python.
• Experience developing relational database solutions, including SQL authoring and query optimization.
• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Experience working with source control systems and established software development workflows.
• Experience improving code efficiency and developing solutions capable of supporting large datasets and high transaction volumes.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear functional requirements and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers, co-op students, or peers and provide constructive technical guidance.
• Comfortable working within an Agile product development environment and contributing to ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and deliver solutions appropriate to business requirements.
• Curiosity and willingness to experiment with emerging technologies, including AI-related tools and services; previous AI experience is beneficial but not required.
• Ruby and Ruby on Rails experience is highly desirable.
• Experience integrating with Salesforce is an asset.
• Exposure to AWS tools and services is an asset.
• Bilingual proficiency in French, Spanish, or German is strongly preferred to support a diverse international client base.
• Strong collaboration, communication, initiative, and mentoring skills are essential for success in a remote and distributed environment.
