Scotiabank
Senior Product Manager, Authentication
Requisition ID: 263402
Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high‑performing culture.
About the Role
We are looking for a client‑first product practitioner to join our Identity and Access team as a Senior Product Manager. In this role, you will shape our digital banking authentication experiences end to end—defining secure‑by‑design authentication and step‑up flows that gain and keep our clients’ trust, while meeting regulatory, compliance, and security requirements. You bring a deep expertise in authentication (multi‑factor authentication, device binding, session management, and risk‑based step‑up) and in partnering on security and fraud controls to deliver experiences that are both simple and resilient. If you’re passionate about protecting clients in a rapidly evolving threat environment, this is the opportunity for you!
Is this role right for you?
- Champion a user focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Keep the client at the centre of all you do.
- Contribute to the strategic vision and multi‑year roadmap for the authentication journey.
- Partner with business teams, control partners (e.g., fraud and information security), and leadership to translate requirements into clear product decisions, prioritized roadmaps, and deliverable journeys.
- Set expectations, manage trade‑offs, and communicate priorities, decisions, and progress clearly to stakeholders.
- Work closely with business, compliance and other control functions—advocating for strong controls while pushing for the best possible client experience and business value.
- Build reusable and scalable authentication capabilities leveraged by channels to securely sign in and step up clients.
- Lead discovery informed by client needs and real‑world threats (e.g., phishing/ATO), including failure‑mode analysis (edge cases, recovery).
- Partner with design and engineering to define and deliver solutions.
- Define client and business value through clear objectives and key results (OKRs), and drive executive alignment through crisp evidence‑based storytelling.
- Leverage data, behavioural analytics, and client insights to drive decisions.
- Build and validate product hypotheses, test, fail and iterate, and continuously improve.
- Ensure the implementation of analytics, and reporting frameworks to enable measurement, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a prioritized backlog, support clear user stories, and partner with scrum teams through planning and delivery.
- Engage with the scrum teams daily, unblocking decisions and ensuring outcomes stay aligned to the roadmap.
- Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify future opportunities of growth for your product; establish yourself as a subject matter expert within digital banking for the areas you own.
- Understand how the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day‑to‑day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your team and self in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day‑to‑day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
- Champion a high‑performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work workplace.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
- You have 6+ years of product management experience shipping consumer‑facing digital products end to end, from discovery through delivery and iteration.
- You have proven experience shipping authentication changes at scale (large consumer base), including rollout strategy, experimentation, and migration.
- You are knowledgeable about multiple functional areas such as product management, agile/scrum, engineering, UX/UI design.
- You have a deep understanding of modern authentication and credential lifecycle, including passwordless/passkeys (FIDO2/WebAuthn), MFA, device binding, session management, and recovery flows.
- You are technically curious and able to dive into technical details, quickly building fluency in complex systems and concepts.
- You embed privacy and security into product delivery processes and design.
- You have experience influencing others by persuasion rather than authority—making your case through excellent communication, speaking clearly to be easily understood, and writing powerfully to persuade.
- You are a master of identifying and solving ambiguous problems with ability to influence and inspire a multi‑disciplinary team to reach ambitious goals.
- You have excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- You have a curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
- Engineering or Computer Science degrees considered an asset.
What's in it for you?
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Allyship – We strive to create an inclusive culture where every employee is empowered to reach their fullest potential, respected for who they are, and embraced through bias‑free practices and inclusive values across Scotiabank.
- Accessibility and Workplace Accommodations – We value the unique skills and experiences each individual brings and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.
- Upskilling through online courses, cross‑functional development opportunities, and tuition assistance.
- Competitive Rewards program including bonus, flexible vacation, personal, sick days and benefits will start on day one.
- Community Engagement – we offer opportunities for community engagement & belonging with our various programs such as hackathons, contests, Humans of Digital and much more!
