Job Title: Head Chef
Reports to: Operations Manager/Owner
Location: Mississauga
Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced and skilled Head Chef to lead our kitchen team in preparing and delivering delicious, authentic North Indian cuisine to our 500 daily customers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Indian cooking, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to maintain high food quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Planning:
- Develop and refine menus to showcase a variety of traditional North Indian dishes
- Ensure menu items are appealing, flavorful, and meet customer expectations
- Kitchen Operations:
- Manage kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers
- Supervise food preparation, presentation, and plating
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment
- Food Quality and Safety:
- Ensure all food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety guidelines
- Conduct regular quality control checks to maintain high standards
- Inventory Management:
- Order ingredients, spices, and supplies in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Manage inventory levels to minimize waste and optimize usage
- Customer Service:
- Interact with customers to gather feedback and improve services
- Address customer complaints and concerns in a professional manner
- Team Development:
- Train and mentor kitchen staff to improve skills and knowledge
- Foster a positive and productive team environment
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a high-volume Indian restaurant, Tiffin Service, catering or food service operation
- In-depth knowledge of North Indian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Culinary degree or diploma will be an added asset
Working Conditions:
- Work in a busy kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and kitchen equipment
- Stand for long periods, lift up to 25 kg, and move quickly and efficiently
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Salary and Benefits:
- Competitive salary range: $5000- $6000, can be more depended on the experience and skills.
