Family Resource Network Programmer

Job Responsibility:
The Family Resource Network Programmer provides universal access supports, resources, programs, and community engagement activities to children 0-18 years, their parents (including parents to be), caregivers, community, and service providers.
Using their knowledge of child and youth development, the Family Resource Network Programmer will work with participants and their families to promote skill development and self-efficacy. The Family Resource Network Programmer will deliver programs and services through a variety of formats including support groups, walk-in services, phone consultations, email inquires and social media. The Network Programmer will plan and facilitate programs in a variety of settings suitable and customizable to individual participants needs.
This role may be eligible to participate in our hybrid work program. The successful candidate will be required to reside within 2 hours of Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a range of universal preventative and early intervention family support programs and services
- Develop environments, experiences and programs guided by evidence-informed and practice- based principles in a variety of settings
- Plan and facilitate a variety of skill building programs while managing a welcoming and safe environment for all participants
- Create learning environments that are empowering, flexible to adult learner needs and build upon existing strengths, capacities, and the collective experience of the individual, family, or group
- Co-create collaborative community relationships and networks to support optimal developmental outcomes for children, youth and families
- Apply knowledge of brain science, adverse early childhood experiences and the importance of play to influence optimal developmental outcomes for young children
- Increase awareness of available community services and resources through formal presentations and programs, as well as informal connections with stakeholders.
- Deliver research-based practice informed principles to plan, develop, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate programs and services
- Adhere to standards of practice in documentation, case management, ethics and use of supervision
- Ensure participants understand rights and responsibilities and terms of service including informed consent, FOIP, duty to report, etc.
- Address factors that contribute to the child's, family or caregiver's experience of social vulnerability, safety risks, or poor child development outcomes
- Facilitate evaluative measures and activities to support quality assurance, contractual funding requirements and responsiveness to community needs Support volunteers and students for orientation, training, and supervision
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree in the social sciences, early childhood, child and youth development with a preference to fields with registration and/or membership in accredited professional organizations.
- Minimum of two years experience working with young children, parents, caregivers and community
- Experience in planning, delivering, and evaluating programs involving stakeholders in all stages of program development
- Well versed in brain science, normative child development, adverse early childhood experiences (ACES), ecological and Indigenous perspectives, domains of wellbeing and resilience building practice
- Extensive knowledge about child development and parenting strategies is necessary
- Experience supervising volunteers and students is an asset
- Ability to develop creative solutions to address service barriers as they arise
- Demonstrate adaptability by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment
- Ability to effectively communicate information and express thoughts and facts in both verbal and written communications.
- Ability to maintain accurate, objective, timely documentation that can be subject to participant request for review or subpoenaed
- Effective listening skills and ability to display openness to other people's ideas and thoughts
- Ability to assess and mitigate safety concerns in the delivery of services provided to children and adults Ability to assess level of risk when dealing with complex risk factors such as suicide, family violence, or mental health concerns
Conditions of Employment
- Submission of a Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's licence and submission of a 5-year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- First Aid Certification
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, and weekends
