Senior Sales Manager / Groups

The Staybridge Suites Montreal Airport – Saint-Laurent is seeking a dynamic, results-driven, and highly motivated Senior Sales Manager to lead the hotel's sales efforts and drive revenue growth across all market segments. Reporting directly to the General Manager and the Regional Director of Sales , the Director of Sales is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales initiatives that maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall hotel profitability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business, cultivating long-term client relationships, increasing market share, and representing the hotel within the local business community. This position requires a proactive sales professional who thrives on prospecting, networking, conducting outside sales calls, and delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring compliance with IHG brand standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Report directly to the General Manager and Regional Director of Sales , providing weekly updates on sales performance, market trends, production, forecasts, and strategic initiatives.

• Identify, solicit, negotiate, and secure new corporate, government, group, crew, sports, SMERF, and extended-stay business through proactive sales efforts.

• Conduct outside sales calls, cold calls, networking events, client appointments, site inspections, and local sales blitzes to generate new business opportunities.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing accounts while continuously seeking opportunities to grow account production.

• Manage all sales activities using the hotel's CRM and sales systems, ensuring all client interactions, bookings, lost business, and follow-up activities are accurately documented.

• Represent the hotel at industry trade shows, association meetings, networking events, chamber functions, and community activities to increase market awareness.

• Conduct property tours and sales presentations that effectively communicate the hotel's features, amenities, and value proposition.

• Negotiate group contracts and ensure all agreements are completed accurately and in accordance with company policies.

• Coordinate and detail group requirements, including Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), with clients and internal departments to ensure successful event execution.

• Conduct pre-convention and post-event meetings with clients to ensure expectations are met and identify future business opportunities.

• Work closely with the Operations team to ensure seamless communication and exceptional guest satisfaction throughout each group's stay.

• Collaborate with Revenue Management to identify opportunities to maximize room revenue while maintaining strategic account relationships.

• Attend hotel receptions, client appreciation events, and promotional functions to generate leads and strengthen client relationships.

• Participate in weekly revenue, sales, and operations meetings, providing detailed updates on business development activities and pipeline performance.

• Ensure compliance with IHG brand standards, company policies, and all applicable health, safety, and employment regulations.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by Upper Management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of progressive hotel sales experience , preferably within an IHG or extended-stay environment.

• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales and revenue targets.

• Strong knowledge of the Montreal hospitality market is considered a significant asset.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for local sales calls and client visits.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French .

• Strong prospecting, negotiation, presentation, and closing abilities.

• Exceptional relationship-building and customer service skills.

• Highly organized with excellent time management and follow-up capabilities.

• Ability to analyze sales reports, forecasts, and market data to make strategic business decisions.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

• Experience with HotelKey , Delphi SalesForce , IHG Concerto , or similar hotel sales and property management systems is considered an asset.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to attend client events and networking functions.
