The Opportunity

Acumen Agency is seeking an experienced Art Brokerage, Advisory & Collection Management Director to develop and lead our global art brokerage and art services business.

This is a highly relationship-driven, sales and business development position focused on art sales, brokerage, collection management, auction placement, artist relationships, gallery relationships, private sales, and maximizing opportunities for art owners and collectors .

The ideal candidate will have an established network within the art world, including collectors, artists, galleries, dealers, auction houses, curators, museums, estates, corporate collections, and other art professionals.

The Director will identify opportunities, acquire clients, establish relationships with major art-market organizations, and help clients determine the most effective channels for selling, acquiring, managing, or placing artwork.

Responsibilities

• Acquire private collectors, artists, estates, corporations, family offices, galleries, and other art clients.
• Develop relationships with major auction houses, galleries, dealers, museums, collectors, curators, and art-market professionals.
• Identify artwork and collections suitable for private sale, gallery placement, auction, or other commercial opportunities.
• Help clients determine appropriate channels for selling artwork and maximizing its market exposure and potential value.
• Coordinate artwork submissions and introductions to appropriate auction houses, galleries, dealers, and qualified buyers.
• Develop private-sale opportunities between collectors and buyers.
• Assist clients with preparing artwork for sale, including documentation, photography, provenance information, cataloguing, and presentation through appropriate professionals.
• Coordinate with qualified appraisers, authenticators, conservators, shipping companies, insurers, and other specialists when required.
• Develop relationships with major auction houses and art-market platforms, including organizations such as Sotheby's, Christie's, Phillips, Bonhams, and other appropriate venues.
• Identify opportunities for artwork to be included in major auctions, exhibitions, private sales, and gallery programs.
• Help collectors source artwork that matches their interests, budgets, and investment objectives.
• Develop and manage long-term relationships with art collectors and high-net-worth clients.
• Develop corporate and institutional art collection opportunities.
• Build recurring collection-management and advisory relationships.
• Negotiate commercial arrangements, commissions, referral relationships, and brokerage opportunities.
• Develop international art-market relationships and cross-border opportunities.
• Recruit and develop additional art brokers and business development professionals as the division grows.
• Train and teach other business development professionals how to identify and acquire art clients.
• Build Acumen's international network of art professionals, buyers, sellers, institutions, and service providers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in art brokerage, art sales, galleries, auction houses, art advisory, collection management, or related luxury/high-value business development.
• Established relationships within the art world are highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of the art market, collectors, galleries, dealers, and auction processes.
• Demonstrated ability to acquire clients and generate high-value transactions.
• Excellent sales, relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working with high-net-worth individuals, collectors, executives, family offices, corporations, and institutions.
• Strong discretion and professionalism when handling valuable artwork and confidential client relationships.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to independently develop a business pipeline.
• Experience building or leading an art sales, brokerage, advisory, or business development team is an asset.

Compensation & Career Opportunity

This position initially operates on a performance-based compensation structure , tied to successful transactions, client acquisition, revenue generation, and business development results.

As the division grows, there is an opportunity to transition into a full-time salaried executive leadership position , with the potential to build and lead Acumen Agency's global art brokerage, advisory, and collection management division.

Work Arrangement

Remote | Global | Flexible

The position can be performed remotely, with international travel and in-person meetings as appropriate for clients, collectors, galleries, auction houses, exhibitions, and transactions.

Appraisals, authentication, valuations, legal matters, transportation, insurance, and other specialized or regulated services will be handled through appropriate qualified professionals and authorized providers where required.
