Senior Financial Analyst – 3-Month Contract

Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to join their finance team on a 3-month contract. This position will provide interim support following recent team departures and will play a key role in financial analysis, balance sheet oversight, account reconciliations, and explaining financial results to key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to confidently investigate and communicate financial variances. This opportunity is best suited to someone who can quickly integrate into an established finance function and operate effectively with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed budget-to-actual variance analysis, investigating key drivers and providing clear, accurate explanations of financial results.
• Prepare, perform, and review account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Support the management and analysis of key balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, liabilities, and accruals.
• Review financial information for accuracy and identify unusual trends, discrepancies, or areas requiring further investigation.
• Prepare and communicate variance explanations and financial insights to internal stakeholders.
• Assist with month-end financial reporting and close activities, as required.
• Ensure financial analyses and reconciliations are supported by appropriate documentation and adhere to established accounting policies and controls.
• Partner with members of the finance team and broader organization to address financial inquiries and resolve accounting-related issues.
• Maintain a high degree of accuracy, integrity, and accountability when reviewing and communicating financial information.

Qualifications & Experience

• Several years of progressive experience in a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar accounting/finance role.
• Strong hands-on experience with budget-to-actual variance analysis and account reconciliations.
• Solid understanding of balance sheet accounts, including cash, accounts receivable, liabilities, and accruals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to clearly articulate the underlying drivers behind financial variances to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience working within a structured, complex operating environment is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience within healthcare, hospitals, clinics, manufacturing, or similarly operationally complex organizations would be considered a strong asset.
• Candidates coming primarily from very small businesses or marketing/agency environments may have less exposure to the scale and complexity required for this position.
• CPA designation is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant industry and hands-on financial experience will be prioritized over designation alone.
• Ability to quickly learn existing processes and contribute effectively within a short-term contract environment.

Pay Rate
$37.00/ Hour
