Analyst, Leveraged Finance (Toronto)

What you’ll be doing

CIBC Leveraged Finance is a team that provides senior and subordinated cash‑flow lending to Canadian middle‑market businesses. The role supports Relationship Managers and Deal Teams nationwide, delivering high‑quality client service and assisting in transaction underwriting and portfolio management. The goal is to develop into a Leveraged Finance Associate within 24‑36 months.

How you’ll succeed

• Portfolio Management – Support the annual review process, review quarterly and monthly reporting, and work with Relationship Managers and clients to address questions and maintain dashboards.
• Transaction Underwriting – Assist Deal Teams with external research, industry, comparable and precedent transaction analysis; lead pricing and returns analysis; prepare client pitch decks and marketing presentations.
• Operations – Lead marketing initiatives, develop marketing materials such as deal announcements and tombstones, and manage the team’s transaction database.
• Client Solutions – Proactively assess client needs and propose solutions, including other CIBC products and services.
• Collaboration – Perform comprehensive financial/non‑financial analysis for credit proposals, prepare draft recommendations, and assist in transaction due‑diligence.
• Relationship Building – Develop good relations with internal colleagues across commercial banking, corporate finance, risk management, operations and cash management.
• Proactive Monitoring – Maintain a proactive approach to continuous risk assessment and report observations.
• Business Acumen – Actively engage with team tasks, build knowledge of Leveraged Finance products and the industry, and pursue continuous learning.

Who you are

• Prior exposure – Experience in commercial credit and/or equity investment; understanding of lending practices, loan assessment, industry and competitive analysis.
• Education – Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
