You will report to the Board of Directors and step into the heartbeat of a growing family of subsidiaries. Your days will be varied, your challenges meaningful, and your impact immeasurable. Here is what that looks like in practice: 

You will hold the standard for our subsidiaries.
You’ll provide the kind of oversight that keeps our businesses strong—shaping governance structures, supporting executive leadership, and keeping a steady eye on financial results. You won’t just look at spreadsheets; you’ll look at the people and projects behind them. You’ll work alongside project managers to ensure risks are managed, budgets are respected, and deliverables are met—not because you micromanage, but because you understand that these operations are trusted to you by the community. 

You will build the roadmap for generations.
This role is about seeing around corners. You will lead the development of a long-term corporate and investment strategy that ensures KDC doesn't just survive, but thrives. That means keeping a healthy pipeline of projects coming, getting the most out of our physical assets—including the Camp, our Land in Kenora, and more—and, most importantly, creating stable, meaningful employment opportunities for the SL40 workforce. You'll think big, but you'll also think practically about how to turn vision into lasting community strength. 

You will be the voice and the bridge.
You will represent KDC and its subsidiaries in the rooms where decisions are made—with governments, financial institutions, industry partners, and investors. You’ll navigate the complexities of federal, provincial, municipal, and private-sector processes, not with force, but with respect. Our relationships are our greatest currency, and you will protect and grow them. You will ensure that every negotiation, every partnership, and every deal reflects the priorities of Shoal Lake 40 and honours the cultural protocols that make this work meaningful.

Maybe your background is in business, in government, or in Indigenous economic development—or perhaps you bring a unique combination of experiences that have sharpened your instincts and deepened your integrity. 

You likely know what it means to steward resources with care, because you understand that money isn't just money—it's opportunity, it's safety, it's hope for a family. You know how to work with a Board, guide a team, and make hard decisions without losing sight of the human side. 

You are a listener. A diplomat. A leader who inspires trust without demanding it. You have sat across from negotiating tables and understood that the most powerful deals aren't won with power—they're built on mutual respect, cultural understanding, and genuine connection. 

Most importantly, you have the heart for this. You feel the pull of building something that outlasts you. You want to show up—really show up—for a community that is ready to soar, and you know that your greatest contribution will be the legacy of strength you leave behind.
