About the role

As ATB's new CMHC Financing "Player/Coach", you will lead a team of CMHC financing specialists that are responsible for underwriting, administering, and funding CMHC insured loans for the ATB Commercial Real Estate team. The CMHC specialists directly support a team of relationship managers and sales directors with their CMHC portfolios. As a player/coach, you will be knowledgeable about CMHC products including underwriting the certificate of insurance, loan servicing, monitoring etc. The ideal candidate will have some leadership experience, as well as significant experience in conventional commercial real estate lending, including construction financing.

Accountabilities

• Lead a team of CMHC specialists that support relationship managers and directors on CMHC loan origination.
• Strong experience in Certificate of Insurance underwriting and loan origination including preparation of the application for credit and loan package.
• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program for CMHC Specialists.
• Assist with completion of CMHC annual reviews, amendments, and new money requests.
• Review draw requests, calculate financial covenants, assist with loan funding and administration in accordance with CMHC Approved Lender handbook and ATB's internal policies.
• Submit pricing approval requests to appropriate decision level authority, fee collection etc.
• Manage risk through account monitoring to identify and act upon any deterioration of account or portfolio risk. This includes ongoing monitoring of industry reports as well as interim and year-end financial information/statements
• Assist the Sales Teams with improving efficiencies and profitability of the business unit.
• Form and maintain relationships with ATB's contacts at CMHC

Skills, experience & requirements

• Preference for degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent, with 3-6 years relevant experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset
• Significant experience with CMHC products, procedures, and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional financial analysis skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
• Proven ability to produce effective results both independently with minimal supervision, and in a team setting
• An MBA, CFA or CPA designation completed, or in progress, is an asset
