Senior Estimator / Estimating Project Manager

 

Location: North Vancouver, BC

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000

 

Join an established heavy civil and marine contractor delivering technically complex infrastructure projects across British Columbia. This opportunity is suited to an experienced Estimator, Senior Estimator or Project Manager with strong estimating capabilities who can lead tendering, pricing, constructability and pre-construction activities, with the potential to support or manage awarded projects through execution.

 

Must Haves

• 5+ years of estimating, pre-construction or project management experience within heavy civil, marine, piling, infrastructure or specialty construction.


• Proven experience preparing detailed estimates for complex construction projects including labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors and indirect costs.


• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, tender documents and contractual requirements.


• Experience developing scopes of work, quantity take-offs, pricing strategies and bid submissions.


• Strong commercial understanding with the ability to identify construction, contractual and pricing risks.


• Ability to work from the Greater Vancouver Area and support projects throughout British Columbia.

 

Nice to Haves

• Experience estimating marine construction, piling, foundations, ports, terminals, bridges or other heavy civil infrastructure.


• Project management experience carrying awarded work from estimate through construction and closeout.


• Experience with self-perform construction, heavy equipment production rates and complex construction methodologies.


• Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quantity Surveying education.


• Gold Seal, P.Eng., EIT, PQS or another relevant professional designation.

 

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for heavy civil, marine and piling construction opportunities.


• Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical information and tender documents to establish project scope and risk.


• Complete quantity take-offs and develop labour, equipment, material and subcontractor pricing.


• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.


• Develop construction methodologies, sequencing plans and preliminary schedules in collaboration with operations teams.


• Identify tender risks, opportunities, exclusions, assumptions and commercial considerations.


• Participate in bid reviews, pricing strategy discussions and tender submissions.


• Support design-assist, constructability and value engineering initiatives during pre-construction.


• Coordinate with project management and field teams to ensure successful handover of awarded projects.


• Track historical costs, production rates and lessons learned to improve estimating accuracy.


• Build relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.


• Depending on experience, manage selected projects from award through execution and closeout.
