Project Manager - Piling, Foundations & Ground Improvement

 

Location: North Vancouver, BC

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000

 

 

Join a specialized heavy civil contractor delivering piling, foundation and ground improvement projects across Greater Vancouver and throughout British Columbia. This role is ideal for an experienced Project Manager with a strong understanding of geotechnical or foundation construction who can manage project delivery, field coordination, budgets, schedules and client relationships from award through completion.

 

Must Haves

• 5+ years of project management experience within piling, deep foundations, geotechnical construction, heavy civil or a closely related specialty contracting environment.


• Working knowledge of piling, foundations, shoring, ground improvement, earth retention or other geotechnical construction methods.


• Proven experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement and field execution.


• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, geotechnical information and construction documentation.


• Experience coordinating project teams, clients, consultants, suppliers and field crews.


• Ability to work from the Greater Vancouver Area and travel to construction sites throughout British Columbia as required.

 

Nice to Haves

• Experience with driven piles, drilled piles, micropiles, sheet piling, shoring systems, ground improvement or marine piling.


• Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering education or equivalent construction management experience.


• Experience managing self-perform construction crews and specialized heavy equipment.


• P.Eng., EIT, PMP, Gold Seal or another relevant professional designation.

 

Responsibilities

• Manage piling, foundation and ground improvement projects from award through completion.


• Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets and procurement strategies.


• Coordinate superintendents, field crews, subcontractors, suppliers and specialized equipment.


• Review geotechnical reports, drawings, specifications and contract documents to establish project requirements.


• Manage project costs, forecasting, productivity tracking and financial reporting.


• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, progress claims and project documentation.


• Coordinate materials, equipment and subcontracted services required to maintain project schedules.


• Work closely with field leadership to resolve constructability, access and sequencing challenges.


• Maintain communication with owners, consultants, general contractors and other project stakeholders.


• Identify project risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies.


• Support estimating, pre-construction and project handover activities where required.


• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
