We are currently looking for SOUS CHEFS t o join our dynamic team at ITALIAN KITCHEN. Located at 860 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC, focused on old world charm, new world vibe. Simple ingredients creating the ultimate in fresh and classic Italian dishes.
The term 'sous chef' comes from the French for 'under-chef’, but we prefer working hand in hand with the Executive Chef. The Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef with the day-to-day functions of running a well-organized kitchen, in addition to other managerial responsibilities such as tracking inventory, ordering produce and maintaining health and safety standards in the kitchen.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
· 3 years minimum experience in a similar position and environment
· Foodsafe certified (within 1 week of employment)
· Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, Red Seal certificate is an asset
· Must have a passion for the business and a love of food
· Solid leadership and motivational skills
· Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through as necessary
· Capacity to work well under pressure, meeting production schedules and timelines for service
· Ability to communicate in English
· Long periods of standing and walking is required
· Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
