Job Responsibility:
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Manager to oversee our shipping department. This role is crucial in ensuring that all shipping operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. As the Shipping Manager, you will be responsible for supervising shipping staff, coordinating shipments, managing shipping documents and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations to ensure timely and accurate unloading, receiving, put-away, picking and shipping of product
- Manage shipping staff and workload in the department
- Oversee the preparation of shipping documents and ensure accuracy in labeling, packaging and customs documents
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize shipping processes and resolve any issues that arise
- Monitor inventory levels and assign warehouse personnel to replenish stock levels and update inventory records
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Manage physical inventory counts
- Set up stock transfers to other warehouses
- Implement and enforce safety protocols with respect to proper use of racking, forklifts and order pickers
- Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries
- Evaluate freight carriers to determine which carriers to utilize
- Analyze shipping metrics to identify areas for improvement and enhance operational efficiency
Experience
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within a shipping or logistics environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of shipping procedures, documentation, and customs regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in using shipping software and technology; ideally with experience in Visual Manufacturing or Microsoft Dynamics inventory management systems.
- Experience with distribution centre processes such as receiving, picking, packing and shipping.
- Strong communication skills to effectively lead a team and collaborate with other departments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
