The successful junior cost consultant will work within a loan monitoring team supporting the delivery of cost and progress reporting services. Projects typically include rental apartment buildings, residential developments, and small-scale urban construction projects. You will assist on multiple live projects at different stages of design and construction.

Responsibilities and Duties

This quantity surveyor job in Canada will provide broad exposure to construction cost consulting and project monitoring duties, including:

• Assisting with periodic site inspections and preparation of cost and progress reports
• Supporting project cost account reconciliation activities
• Assisting senior cost consultants with change order review analysis
• Helping to prepare lifecycle cost assessments under supervision
• Maintaining clear communication with internal team members and external stakeholders
• Assisting with data collection to support client reports and proposals
• Supporting the production of benchmarking reports for construction and development costs
• Managing project information and maintaining accurate cost records

Desired Skills and Experience

This role is suitable for an Assistant/Junior Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their career:

• 1 – 3 years of experience in a quantity surveying role, ideally in a cost consultancy or similar environment
• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills
• Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Willingness to learn cost management and project monitoring processes
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and meet reporting deadlines
• Good communication skills and a professional approach to clients and colleagues
• A driving licence is highly desirable due to the need for site visits

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Project Management or similar
