FIRST NATIONS HEALTH OMBUDSPERSON OFFICE
FNHOO seeks a Health Analyst to support First Nations individuals in addressing concerns related to health services. Grounded in First Nations Culture, Tradition, and Ceremony, this role supports clients through complaints, investigations, advocacy, and resolution processes.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate complaints related to health professionals, organizations, services, and decisions
Gather, review, and analyze evidence, including medical records and documentation
Conduct interviews and prepare reports, case summaries, briefing notes, and recommendations
Support alternative and restorative approaches to resolution
Provide advocacy, resources, and health system navigation support
Liaise with clients, health organizations, and regulatory bodies
Apply trauma-informed, fair, impartial, and culturally responsive practices
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPA, PIPEDA, and related legislation
Manage multiple files and sensitive situations professionally
Education & Qualifications
Degree in Health Administration, Indigenous Health, Nursing, Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Law, or related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience considered
Healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge & Experience
Knowledge of First Nations history, Treaty rights, culture, and health service delivery
Experience in investigations, complaints management, mediation, dispute resolution, or case management
Strong analytical, report-writing, communication, and de-escalation skills
Knowledge of health systems, legislation, and privacy requirements
Ability to work effectively with diverse and vulnerable populations in a fast-paced environment
Salary: Based on an established grid and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
