Senior Business Development Representative

About This Role As a Senior Business Development Representative (BDR), you will connect with prospects on a one-to-one basis through communication channels such as phone, email, and social. The BDR function will work to uncover pipeline through sales prospecting into a commercial account base, driving new opportunities in Very defined target markets. Occasionally, you will receive marketing quality leads (MQLs) supplied by marketing teams. However, the primary objective of the BDR assignment is to independently source leads that ideally progress through the sales funnel, converting prospects to Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs). Meeting a defined lead scoring criteria, after a prospect has converted to a SQL, you will work with Senior Account Executives (SAEs) on a smooth transition for the client's support as the SAE progresses from SQL to a closed opportunity.   • Uncovers new opportunities that lead to impactful and profitable deals (>$1mm)
  • Generates outbound leads by working with clients at large, recognizable companies
  • Prepares content tailored to a diverse set of buyer personas
  • Deploys a structured cadence approach optimized to deliver results
What You'll Be Working On Very is first and foremost, an IoT Product Design and Development firm. We tackle hard problems for clients who need a targeted, senior team to come in and provide specific solutions. We address the IoT space through our four practice areas: Hardware, Software, UI/UX, and Data Science. Our projects in this domain have ranged from data acquisition and alerting for industrial power systems to automated self-pour beer taps. Therefore, an acute and adaptive ability to understand the client's needs and tie them back to Very's capabilities is required. Responsibilities
  • Align client's needs and apply critical thinking with a consultative sales approach to generate new outbound leads with clients that have long-term growth potential
  • In partnership with Senior Account Executives, synergizing clients expressed needs and facilitating intro and discovery calls
  • Managing leads effectively and efficiently through the lead qualification process
  • Hit quarterly sales activity metrics with attention to booking and converting meetings to SQL's
  • Conduct and leverage research tools and processes to align customer needs with Very capabilities
  • Manage a multi-step sales research process
  • In collaboration with SAEs, seek new opportunities within the larger organization, parent company or subsidiaries to assist with the sales qualification process
  • Initial qualification from client stakeholders and internal Very employee submissions
  • Deliver relevant marketing content to prospects
  • Conduct sales discovery calls with prospects to uncover their current challenges
  • Build trusting relationships with key stakeholders
  • Update all customer engagements and activity in Very's CRM
Your lead flow will mostly be self-generated by multiple sources. You will be responsible for all aspects of outbound sales development, generating your own leads that align with our lead qualification attributes. Your job will be to take those leads, build a relationship with multiple points of contact, and transition the opportunity to Senior Accounts Executives who will manage to close. Qualifications Required
  • 5+ years of technology sales (BDR or similar)
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent
  • General understanding of the IoT space and willingness to learn
  • A track record of meeting and exceeding monthly or quarterly BDR or sales targets
  • Exemplary virtual presentation skills that are articulate and informed
  • History of learning complex technical systems quickly

Compensation OTE: CAD $70,000 to $83,000 CAD per year, commensurate with experience. We also offer world-class perks:
