What will your typical day look like?

 

As a Manager, Background Check, you will:

• Support the day-to-day operations of the firm’s Background Check program, helping ensure the timely delivery of high-quality due diligence and risk assessments.
• Perform and review risk-based background checks and due diligence assessments related to client acceptance, third party relationship arrangements and the firm’s corporate development activities.
• Serve as an escalation resource for complex, sensitive, or high-risk matters requiring enhanced review and risk assessment.
• Monitor productivity, turnaround times, and quality metrics, and identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain procedures, guidance, training resources, and quality standards to promote consistency, quality and compliance across the team.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members to support their development and enhance quality outcomes.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, performance review discussions, and other talent management activities.
• Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI-enabled solutions, and emerging technologies to improve efficiency, quality, and service delivery.
• Support the implementation of regulatory, compliance, and reputational risk requirements by maintaining effective team processes and controls.
• Contribute to strategic projects that enhance service delivery, client experience, and operational effectiveness.

Deloitte's Background Check team plays a critical role in protecting the firm's reputation through risk-based due diligence and background screening of our clients and third parties. Working alongside peer managers, you will lead a high-performing, geographically and culturally diverse team responsible for delivering reliable, timely and high-quality work while driving operational excellence, continuous improvements and stakeholder confidence. Bilingualism in French and English is required for this position due to the nature of the role having interactions with National & Global clients and project teams.

 

You are someone with these required skills, experience & qualifications:

 

• 5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, investigations, legal services, regulatory affairs, due diligence, or a related field
• Proven experience conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) research and due diligence assessments, synthesizing and analyzing information from diverse sources, identifying relevant risk factors, and applying sound professional judgment to support risk-based decision making. 
• Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and commitment to delivering timely and high quality work, both independently and collaboratively. 
• Demonstrated people leadership experience, including developing and training junior team members in a hybrid work environment while fostering a supportive and high-performing team culture.
• Demonstrated agility and adaptability in responding to evolving business priorities and operating effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $156,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
