ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites applications from qualified physicians to join the Cardiac Surgery Division at Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, NL as a Clinical Assistant.
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a staff Cardiac Surgeon, supporting the delivery of comprehensive cardiac surgical care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This opportunity is open to physicians with a background in Family Medicine or a relevant specialty, as well as those with specific experience or interest in cardiac surgery.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
- Eligible for licensure as a Clinical Assistant with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (
- Must satisfy privileging and credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Experience or interest in Cardiac Surgery considered a strong asset

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct and indirect patient care within the Cardiac Surgery Division under the supervision of a staff Cardiac Surgeon
- Assist with inpatient rounds, admissions, discharges, and patient investigations
- Support outpatient cardiac surgery clinic services as required
- Participate in after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage as assigned
- Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary Cardiac Surgery team
- Perform other clinical duties within the scope and qualifications of the Clinical Assistant licence
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
