Hours : 75 bi-weekly (8 hour day shifts; on-call)

Salary :

CG-43 (CAD50.43 - CAD58.84 per hour which includes any negotiated wage adjustment and/or supplement as applicable), plus a bi-weekly pensionable Market Adjustment up to a maximum of $788.48. (The Market Adjustment is currently approved until March 31, 2028, or pending collective bargaining conclusion, whichever is earlier). Note positions in Labrador Grenfell Zone are eligible for a bi-weekly pensionable Market Adjustment up to a maximum of $1,019.25.

Job Summary

NL Health's Pharmacy Department is seeking a highly motivated professional to fill a Clinical Pharmacist IIA position. The successful candidate will report to the Provincial Pharmacy Manager of Oncology Services and work with the oncology leadership team to provide direction and leadership in oncology clinical services and chemotherapy distribution. The Clinical Pharmacist II acts as a liaison with Division Managers, nurses, physicians, and other health care employees and external stakeholders.

Work includes: application of national oncology practice standards (NAPRA, USP 800) and accreditation standards; management of oncology drug shortages; training Clinical Pharmacists in oncology in chemotherapy order verification; oversight of quality assurance programs; policy development and implementation; providing consultation as a clinical expert in oncology; involvement with continuous improvement processes; performing frontline oncology distribution functions and providing direct patient care for ambulatory oncology patients.

Works under tight time pressures with an unpredictable work pace.

Job Qualifications

Graduation from a recognized School of Pharmacy is required.

Licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board and membership with the Pharmacists' Association of Newfoundland and Labrador is required.

Doctor of Pharmacy or completion of a Hospital Residency Program would be considered an asset.

Prior experience in oncology clinical practice would be considered an asset.

Prior supervisory experience would be an asset.

Demonstrated facilitation skills among diverse groups.

Demonstrated strong supervisory and clinical leadership skills in the operation of Pharmacy Services.

Demonstrated ability to provide clinical and administrative advice and guidance to other Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy students.

Demonstrated a high level of independence and self-direction.

Demonstrated conflict management skills including the ability to resolve staffing issues.

Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data to problem-solve and make decisions effectively.

Demonstrated critical thinking, problem solving and decision making using a systems approach.

Ability to work autonomously prioritizing patient needs.

Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients, and their families.

Exhibited strong written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations.
