Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer – Westland Insurance Group Ltd

Location: Surrey, BC (Hybrid).
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to lead an automation‑first, AI‑augmented testing approach, define test strategies, and mentor the QA team.

Responsibilities

• Define and own end‑to‑end quality for assigned applications and releases.
• Lead development of test strategy, quality standards, and automation architecture.
• Embed quality throughout the development lifecycle and align with secure SDLC practices.
• Provide data‑driven release recommendations and support release decisions.
• Mentor and elevate QA practices across the organization.
• Lead and continuously improve an automation‑first QA approach, defining test scope, risks, and coverage goals.
• Build and maintain automated test suites (UI, API, integration) and ensure they run reliably within CI/CD pipelines.
• Plan and execute testing activities, provide clear insights, and support release decisions.
• Track and monitor quality metrics such as test coverage, pass rates, and defects.
• Troubleshoot test failures, reduce flaky tests, manage defects through resolution, and support UAT readiness.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, contribute to QA ceremonies, and evolve QA standards, frameworks, and AI‑driven testing practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a QA Engineer with a strong focus on test automation.
• Experience building reliable, scalable test suites across UI, API, Microservices, integration, and regression testing.
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines and secure SDLC practices.
• Experience testing web‑based or SaaS applications, including APIs, Microservices, integrations, and data flows.
• Proficiency in automation coding using at least one language (Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, or Python) and familiarity with tools like Selenium and Postman.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and clear communication of risks and recommendations.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, proactive, with mentoring experience.
• Ideally QA/Agile certification or exposure to AI‑driven testing tools.
