A growing and well-established property management organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accounting professional to take ownership of a diverse portfolio while contributing to the continued growth and operational success of the business.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager will oversee the financial operations of a portfolio of commercial and residential properties. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, process improvement, and team leadership while partnering closely with property management and senior leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties
- Review financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support business decision‑making
- Manage property accounting functions including CAM reconciliations, tenant billing, collections, AP/AR, and expense allocations
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members while establishing workflows and performance expectations
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with Canadian accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, automate processes, and enhance operational efficiencies
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Previous experience within property management, real estate, or multi‑entity environments strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/property management systems such as Yardi, Entrata, or similar platforms
