Hays Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a well-established private investment and property management organization to hire an Accounts Payable Clerk for a short-term contract. This is a close-knit, high-performing team within a multi-generational business, offering a collaborative environment where attention to detail and accountability are highly valued.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced AP professional who can step in quickly, manage high-volume processing, and help maintain smooth financial operations during a team member’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume invoices (~400 per month), including verification, data entry, and accurate GL coding
- Scan, upload, and maintain organized digital invoice records in accounting systems (e.g., Timberscan)
- Manage invoice backlogs and prioritize urgent or time-sensitive payments
- Prepare and process vendor payments (cheques and EFTs), including remittances
- Respond promptly to vendor inquiries and maintain strong professional relationships
- Support month-end accounts payable processes and ensure transactional accuracy
- Collaborate with accounting team members to ensure timely and efficient workflow
- Assist with ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks as needed
What You Need to Succeed
- 2+ years of Accounts Payable or high-volume invoice processing experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger (GL) coding and accounting fundamentals
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage large volumes of work efficiently
- Experience with accounting systems (Sage 300 is a strong asset)
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn
