Overview
Supply Ontario (SO) is seeking a strategic HR leader with proven knowledge and experience in labour management, relationship building and occupational health and safety. As a member of the HR leadership team, this role is critical to developing the employee and labour relations (ELR) and occupational health & safety (OHS) programs and initiatives that will continue to support Supply Ontario’s strategy.
Responsibilities
- Drive development and implementation of ELR and OHS programs, including plans, methods, tools, KPIs, metrics and processes.
- Ensure oversight and governance of ELR/OHS policies and practices, interpreting corporate policies, collective agreements, employment laws and other regulations.
- Lead or oversee the collective bargaining process with labour unions, developing and proposing strategies and recommendations for negotiations and arbitrations.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert in negotiations, labour contract administration, advice and counseling to key business stakeholders.
- Manage implementation of initiatives that promote and support employee health and well‑being, including occupational health services, disability management, wellness, absenteeism and joint health and safety committees.
- Develop overall ELR/OHS operational plans with the Chief Human Resources Officer, and report on performance metrics, program effectiveness, risks and impacts.
- Manage financial and material resources, ensuring consistency with corporate requirements and approval processes across HR, IT, operations and business planning.
- Develop and manage relationships and consultation with stakeholders affected by ELR/OHS programs to identify trends, issues and needs.
- Partner with legal counsel as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in Labour Relations, Human Resources, or related field.
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is an asset.
- Minimum 10 years of senior‑level experience in a large, complex, multi‑union environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment and labour law, collective agreement administration, collective bargaining, union‑management relations, grievance management, occupational health and safety, and disability case management.
- Robust knowledge of applicable provincial legislation (Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act).
- Solid conflict resolution, consulting, negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to coach, consult and influence leaders on ELR/OHS practices and their link to business success.
- Ability to conduct effective presentations, facilitate meetings, and maintain productive relationships with union leadership.
