Operations Director, Buildings – Permanent – 3141 Ottawa, ON
Parker Huggett is partnering with a growing construction organization to recruit an Operations Director – Buildings to lead and scale its Ottawa operations. This is a senior leadership role for a construction professional who excels at building teams, systems, and consistent project outcomes. Reporting to the General Manager, you will take ownership of people, performance, and project execution across a portfolio of complex building projects.
What You’ll Lead
- People & Culture: Recruit, develop, and mentor a high‑performing operations team while fostering a safety‑first, accountable, and cooperative culture.
- Systems: Establish and continuously improve workflows for procurement, scheduling, safety, and reporting to support scalable growth.
- Project Oversight: Provide senior oversight across active job sites, monitoring schedules, budgets, quality, change management, and HSSE, with regular site presence.
- Commercial & Financial Performance: Oversee job costing, forecasting, P&L, cash flow, contracts, claims, and risk management in partnership with the GM.
- Partners & Growth: Build solid relationships with designers, subcontractors, and suppliers; support procurement, bids, and future work planning.
About You
- 15+ years in construction, including 10+ years in senior leadership roles.
- Proven experience delivering major building projects $100M+.
- Robust understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and delivery models (CM, Design‑Build, IPD).
- Expertise in job costing, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- A decisive, cooperative leader with excellent communication skills and a strong HSSE mindset.
