Step 1: All regular/fixed-term OCAA and ALOC lawyers on staff, current Redeployment List Members and current Articling Student Hireback Pool Members.
The Ministry of the Attorney General is seeking one solicitor to join the Legal Services Branch, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA).
Providing legal services to support the programs, operations and activities of OMAFA and its agencies
Drafting and providing legal advice on legal instruments, such as transfer payment agreements, procurements, real estate transactions, appointments, delegations, Minister's Orders, and Orders In Council
Drafting legislation and regulations
Providing governance, policy and operational advice to OMAFA and its agencies (adjudicative, regulatory and operational)
Providing litigation and issues management support on files led by the Crown Law Office Civil and Constitutional Law Branch
Providing legal advice on Indigenous and environmental matters
Providing legal advice with respect to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and conflicts of interest
Membership in good standing as a lawyer with the Law Society of Ontario

Knowledge and understanding of Agricultural Law, Food Safety Law, Contract and Commercial Law, Administrative Law, Planning Law and Aboriginal Law
Experience in negotiating and drafting various legal instruments
Experience drafting and interpreting legislation and regulations
Experience with complex commercial transactions
Ability to recognize and assess legal implications in policy issues
Knowledge of government legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and directives
Ability to conduct legal research in complex areas of law
Experience handling files independently and working effectively in a team environment with program areas, counsel, articling student and other staff
Proven computer skills
