Hart House is a centre for experiential education outside the classroom at the University of Toronto. Since it opened in 1919, Hart House functions as a place where students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the broader community connect with each other and the world. Through an array of co-curricular programming in the arts, dialogue and wellness, Hart House works with local and international partners to foster community and to create innovative learning opportunities for students. Hart House operates from a historic facility on the St. George campus, as well as a 150-acre farm in Caledon, Ontario, offering a wide range of services through a social enterprise model that generates revenue to support its student-focused programming on all three University of Toronto campuses.

Whether our clients are hosting a multi-day hybrid conference, enjoying lunch at the Gallery Grill restaurant, or saying “I do” in the Great Hall, we pride ourselves on delivering superlative customer service through thoughtful planning, delectable menus, beautifully appointed spaces, and technological expertise.

Behind every successful event is a dedicated team of hospitality professionals working across a variety of areas, including food production, event preparation, setup, guest support, and service. Our operations run 7 days a week, with shifts ranging from early mornings to late nights depending on event schedules.

Under general supervision performs heavy cleaning and custodial duties, moves and sets up furniture and equipment on a routine basis and for special events.

moving and setting up of furniture and equipment according to plan and schedule; may assist in setting out academic examination booklets;

• e) clears furniture and equipment as requested and stores in appropriate areas;
• f) performs maintenance functions such as changing lights and minor adjustments to furniture and equipment; Physical ability to perform required duties, including heavy lifting and pushing of furniture and equipment, considerable walking and stair climbing; ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and writing; ability to work independently, awareness of building security and fire procedures; This is a part-time (60% FTE) , continuing position.

This is a part-time (60% FTE) position.
Schedule: Part-Time. Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (hours/days may vary depending on event demand, including occassional weekdays)
