Part-time By-law Enforcement Officer, Saint John, NB
Commissionaires NBPEI is looking to hire a qualified and responsible team member to work as a part-time By-law Enforcement Officer in Saint John, NB.
The Part-time By-law Enforcement Officer is a new position with our client, the city of Saint John. The officer is responsible for ensuring that the applicable by-laws of the city of Saint John are properly adhered to, travel around the municipality to educate the public and take appropriate measures with non-compliance.
Hours of Work: 20 hours per week, combination of days, evenings and weekends
Rate of Pay: $19.80 per hour
Respond to public inquiries in a timely, courteous and professional manner
- Prioritize, investigate and resolve complaints related to by-laws keeping clear logs
- Conduct both scheduled and reactive inspections throughout the municipality as required
- When necessary, attend court and provide testimony supported with documentation and professionalism
- Work in coordination with municipal staff, emergency services and external agencies for a collaborative approach to by-law enforcement
Minimum of five years of relevant work experience, ideally in enforcement, municipal operations, public safety, or a related field
Excellent communication/interpersonal skills, maintain tact, diplomacy and courtesy with the public and municipal staff
Interpret and apply municipal by-laws accurately and consistently with strong organizational skills
Able to successfully complete all online training
Clean criminal record and have a Valid class 5 Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
